Introduction
WalMart has been in Córdoba for several years, but you can still shop at the traditional market. This is Mercado Norte which is, as you may have guessed, on the north side of downtown. Mercado Sud, on the south side, is now a bus station. This is the only place in town to buy vegetables, peppers and spices from Bolivian immigrants sitting on the sidewalk. The vegetable and meat shops are typical of what you might find anywhere. The difference is that at the Mercado Norte the prices are more like wholesale and numerous shops are grouped together.
